When I start the program, I get dialog saying, the program has encountered a problem and needs to close.
When I try to run the program I receive the following error message, Direct player 5.0 "This program requires at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run."
When attempting to install the program, the message "Not enough disk space" appears. I have more than enough space. (This typically occurs when attempting to install the program to a hard drive that is larger than 2 GB.)
Installing 95 Programs That Use Direct X on Windows 2000 and XP sometimes require special installation procedures.
When installing the program I get the message, "Target system OS not supported".
When I try to run the program I receive the following error message, Direct player 5.0 "This program requires at least 3MB of free virtual memory to run."
This is a known issue with older program titles running on newer computers. The older software runs properly, but was written before memory sizes over 500 MB were available, and therefore, are not able to recognize any memory you have.
You can overcome this error by following these steps:
Right-click on the "My Computer", and select "Properties". In this new window, click on where it says "Advanced". Here, click the "settings" button for the "Performance" area.
A new window will open here. Click again on the "Advanced" tab. Where it says "Virtual Memory, click on "Change". Finally, where it says "Custom size", put in the values of "200" for both the initial size and maximum size.
Click "OK" to close each window. You will be required to reboot the computer.
This should take care of the problem for the virtual memory. In rare occasions with computers with large amounts of memory, there are continued problems. In these cases, using the setting "No paging file" should solve this issue. If you run graphic intensive programs that require more memory, you can repeat these steps, and choose "System managed size" instead of the "Custom size".

When attempting to install the program, the message "Not enough disk space" appears. I have more than enough space. (This typically occurs when attempting to install the program to a hard drive that is larger than 2 GB.)
Use the following procedure to install the program.
1. Place the Program CD into the CD-ROM drive. Allow time for the CD-ROM drive to start up. If auto-install begins, skip to Step 5. (If auto-run does not begin, continue with the next step.)
2. Click Start and select Run. The Run dialog box will appear.
3. Type D:\Setup.exe in the Open: field and click OK. (If the CD-ROM drive containing the CD is represented by a different letter, replace D with that letter.)
4. Click Yes to install the program.
5. When the Welcome dialog box appears, click Next. The Software License Agreement will appear.
6. Click Yes, if you agree to the terms of the agreement.
7. THE IMPORTANT STEP... At the Choose Destination Location, PRESS AND HOLD DOWN the CTRL key and click Next with your mouse. The Select Program Folder dialog box will appear. (This by-passes the disk check)
9. Release the CTRL key and follow the on-screen prompts to continue installing the program.

Installing Windows 95 Programs That Use Direct X on Windows 2000 and XP sometimes require special installation procedures.
Before starting, be sure the program you were trying to install is not installed already. Be sure to remove all files it may have copied from a previous try. First, you will want to insert the disc while holding down the Shift key on your keyboard. This will prevent the disc's Auto Play feature from activating. Next, follow the directions below for your version of Windows.
Windows XP:
1. Open "My Computer", right-click your CD-ROM drive and choose "Explore" or "Open". Be sure to not install or Auto Play the disc here.
2. You will see the icon for setup. Right-click it and choose Properties.
3. The Properties page will have a Compatibility tab. Select "Windows 95" and press OK.
Windows 2000 (Option 1):
Ensure you are running Windows 2000 Service Pack 2 or later. Service packs may be obtained from Microsoft Windows Update at http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com/ Please download and run apcompat.exe from Microsoft at: http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=251062 This is a compatibility tool developed by Microsoft that resolves compatibility issues with Direct-X and games from Windows 95 and 98 running under Windows 2000.
1. Browse to or enter the path to the program installer on the CD-ROM.
2. Select "Windows 95".
3. Check "Make the above check box settings permanent".
Please also note that this method is sometimes error-prone but yields better results than Option 2 below.
Windows 2000 (Option 2):
You may be able to run the following command: "regsvr32 %systemroot%\apppatch\slayerui.dll" to enable the compatibility tab. You may then follow the same instructions as for Windows XP above. Please note that with this method, some systems will require you to also select "Disable Heap Manager on Windows 2000".
You should now be able to install and run the program without any problems. If you are still having issues, please contact us for support.

When I start the program, I get dialog saying, the program has encountered a problem and needs to close.
This is perhaps the most common error when running a Windows 95 or 98 program on XP. Setting the program compatibility corrects the problem in most cases. Simply, go to the program icon where you have it stored and right click on the icon. Choose properties, select the compatibility tab, and choosing Windows 95, 98 etc. compatibility and save. It is best to reboot after this to clear system memory.

When installing the program I get the message, "Target system OS not supported".
The reason you see this error is because this title is not officially XP compatible. We list all compatible operating systems with each title we sell based on our testing.
We take care to not list XP as compatible if the program has issues. As such, we considered the program as "unsupported" on the XP operating system.
However, you may find the following "compatibility mode" instructions to work. Please note that this is not a guarantee the the program will work properly on your system.
1. Place disc in drive. If you get the auto run dialog box asking to install, close it without installing at this time.
2. Browse the CD-Rom drive in Windows Explorer. You may need to right-click it and choose "Open" rather than double-clicking it to see the contents otherwise auto-run will execute.
3. Right-click the setup file. It my be SETUP.EXE, INSTALL.EXE etc. and choose "Properties".
4. On the compatibility tab, select 'ALL' of the options and make sure Windows 95 is selected. Then, click "OK".
5. Double-click the setup file to launch the dialog asking you if you want to install. Then install the program normally.
Please note we are unable to offer further assistance with programs on Windows XP that were not listed as XP compatible on our site.
